Hi all is anyone or has anyone got Mattamy to put in hardwood flooring.

I've done a little research and Mattamy does not put a plywood underlay
down. Which could cause creeking and other noises.

Also if someone has gotten hardwood from Mattamy what is the warranty on it.

Pros/cons please if have any.

Thanks

Hi Lloyd

Check out previous post below...

http://www.hawthornevillager.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=1676&highlight=osb#1676

Magellan pointed out a really good post on newhomesreviews.com about the OSB vs plywood, but their forums are down right now. You could ask him maybe if he had a copy of that.

We're going to just stick with the OSB for now.

Also some of Mattamy's hardwood floors (like their natural reflections) actually comes with a thin layer of plywood on top of the OSB. Not sure what that means/does, but it's included in the hardwood upgrade price for that particular one.

I have the hard wood flooring downstairs in my living room. So far I'm squeakless. The person that did the install did a pretty good job. It looks nice.

My brother in law has a mattamy house and the rug is a total mess! Dirty ware and tear.
He has only been there a year.
Now he's going to put down hardwood flooring.

So i think i will have to wait and stick with the carpet and put hardwood flooring down after.
Hard choice to make but will be cheaper to do it later. Also better warranty
and most likely do a better job putting it in!!!!

Thank for the info.

By the way rick here's to ya great site.

Hi folks,
In our current Mattamy home, we (well Rob - not me!) took up the carpet after a year and put down hardwood. Rob screwed down the USB with "1000 screws". That was over a year ago now and no creaks yet.

Screwing it down a second time works like a gem doesn't it. I've had experience with this too.
