If the ground under the pad is not loose / or disturbed, then you should be fine. Just make sure the grading slopes away from the pad.

Keep in mind that this job is not finished untill the concrete pad is cut to control cracking. Without the cuts the pad could / will likely crack and it will look poor. If the pad is cut then potential cracks will be hidden under the cut. The cut need only be an inch or two down into the concrete.

Some builders even cut garage and basement floors in homes to avoid obvious cracking, but that's topic for another day.

Did he offer a warranty?
I'd tell him now that you are not happy, but willing to chance it provided he agrees to guarantee it for x years.
Given that, you'll probably never find him after a few years anyway.

If the slab settles then you can call a company that does "slab - jacking". This involves drilling a small hole in the slab and forcing cement under the slab to lift it.
