This is what we did get: Hardwood floor in the living room dining room & Family room oak stairs door from the garage to the house fireplace upgraded the underpad for the carpet on the second floor removed that oddly placed tile on the main floor hallway got more jacks and cable outlets Good luck picking out your upgrades - its a fun process and it's wonderful when you actually see your home with your colour selections! Hi Diane3939, We purchased Shady Glen too and was thinking about hardwood floors but I thought the price is too much. Do you mind telling us aprrox how you spent on the hardwood flooring.... These are the upgrades we are considering: 1: 9 feet ceiling - reading the post convinced us that it really makes the house look bigger tho expensive 2: Door th Garage 3: 3 pc rough in Washroom in basement 4: Cable and Telephone rough ins 5: Ceramic through hallway 6: Delete bulkheads 7: Soaker tub and Whirlpool upgrade 8: Widen the basement windows - worth it 9: Delete towel rod, toilet paper holder and keep the soap dish in the shower coz its difficult to remove afterwards. 10: Get Mattamy to install Octogen Box instead of strip lighting cost only $42/washroom 11: Round Arch between Kitchen and Family room Trini. |

Look around for Hardwood floors...and well almost all of the upgrades if saving money is you thing. You can get better quality at a way cheaper price, and if its convenience you're searching for, have them come to install it the day (or the day after) you move in, before you have everything set in place. My husband and I are newlyweds, but when we bought our house back in June in the Phase 12 line up craze, we were engaged and a few months away from our wedding. Now, with the wedding and honeymoon in the past, and the house coming up, saving money is important to us. Call around, you can find everything for half the price. We're getting the door to the house from the garage, the fireplace, and the backsplash in the kitchen all put in afterwards the first 2 days we move in. Laurie |
