Post subject:  Regional roads projects

Just to update everyone on the Region of Halton transportation projects I am attaching the report and map that was approved yesterday at the Planning & Public Works committee which will be incorporated into the 2012 Regional capital budget proposals due out next week.

The report also recommends further improvements in traffic light timing as well as both the Tremaine and Britannia road work construction before new homes are completed in the Boyne Survey.

I will be hosting a Budget Open House on Wednesday November 23rd from 7 to 9 pm in Room #3 of the Milton Sports Centre to present both the Town and Regional budgets for everyones information and discussion.

Thanks for the update Colin! It's good to see these projects moving along.

One item I do not see on the map however is a grade separation for Britannia (between Tremaine and Bronte St.). The report mentions a desire for limiting future construction interruptions and as such trying to build roads to their ultimate design, rather then going through the process again a few years later. It would seem to me that it would make sense then to do the grade separation here at the same time, when this clearly will need to be done a few years down the road anyways. Do you have any information on this item, or knowledge of discussions about it?

Hi btimmis

The grade seperation is included in the Britannia road work. The public meeting for the Environmental Assessment report is scheduled for Wednesday December 14th from 6.30 to 8 pm in the Boyne Community Hall on the north side of Britannia road just east of Regional Road #25 where you can see the detailed plans of the staff recommendations for the Britannia Road reconstruction and widening up to 6 lanes from Tremaine to the #407.

Great news, thanks Colin, I think they left the circular grade separation icon out on that one but no matter as long as it is in the plan :) Too bad I won't be able to make that meeting.
