Post subject:  Closing Costs, Townhomes

Chris and I are in the process of saving for our 35% down on our upgrades which is great and we will have it done by May 28! Just in time to start saving again for the closing costs. I was wondering if there were any townhome buyers out there who have an idea or can let me know what their closing costs were. We have been given a few ideas from friends with semis around Hawthorne that closed at approx 1800. However reading a few other posts, folks were talking closer to 2500. Just wondering if a townhome buyer could give me a heads up!
Also we had heard from the sales at Mattamy that we will get 35% back on the house at closing as a first time home owner. Has anyone heard anything to this degree? The closing of the house confuses me!

Your lawyer should give you a breakdown of what your closing costs will be. We close in November and we got this from the lawyers last week. I think ours was in the neighborhood of 2000 (for a semi).

I don't know about that 35% thing, but you do get 2000.00 off of your land transfer tax as a first time home buyer. (This cuts down the closing cost quite a bit)

We moved to a rental home just now and we got

nailed
with a $300 new account fee. But if we pay by automatic bank withdrawal, you don't have to pay this fee upfront.
