Susur Lee is not too far down the road @ 603 King, and is usually regarded/rated as one of the best places to eat in the city.

Make sure to get the Singaporean Salad if you go. It's friggin awesome.

If you have some time and don't mind walking a couple of blocks, try one of the restaurants in the CN tower. Either the 360 Restaurant (reservations required) or Horizons (no reservations - check that there is no event going on that day though). The CN tower is nice and quiet in the winter. The dining is good, and you can't beat the view.

Luma is good. It's on the second floor of the Bell TIFF Lightbox on King and John.

Canoe is relatively close by in the TD Tower.

N'Awlins! This restaurant is amazing, live jazz music and great food...reasonable prices too.

Have a great time!

Out of the recommendations so far I would choose Canoe or Susur Lee. Unfortunately I have never been to Susur Lee but the reputation is impeccable. They are not the cheapest of the recommendations.

Canoe is great and the view, especially at night, is fantastic. The restaurant underwent a renovation last fall and it's very warm and cozy inside.

I highly recommend Toca at the Ritz-Carlton. The ambience is very upscale and high end, and chef Tom Brodi was just awarded Chef of the Year by this Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association in January. You can read more about him here: http://www.where.ca/central-canada/onta ... i-of-toca/.

If you're willing to walk a little bit between the restaurant to the theatre, or perhaps get in a cab or hop on the streetcar, I highly recommend two restaurants in the Old Town neighbourhood: Colborne Lane or Origin, both of which are owned/run by chef Claudio Aprile who I think is one of the city's best chefs. Colborne Lane has a great chef's menu while Origin is one of the hot favourites of foodies. Or on Queen Street, just a block away from the theatre is also Nota Bene which is run by chef David Lee who is also another great chef. Aria at Maple Leaf Square is also beautiful and the food is great, especially if you like Italian food. I had a delicious calamari there in December, as well as housemade gelato.

Linda's recommendations are very solid as well. I have eaten at Colborne Lane and at Splendido when David Lee was the chef there. My meal at Splendido was $165 without any alcohol since I was on meds and that was probably about ten years ago!

I love David Lee; I have a chef crush on him. :P I think he does fish exceptionally well.

Whenever I am asked to recommend restaurants for my job, Nota Bene is always among my top three. Exceptional service at his restaurant (though not as hushed and discreet as at North 44—Mark McEwan's servers are flawless at their job). The dining room is very big and open though so Nota Bene is not a place for a secret rendevous. Dinner will definitely be expensive at any of the places I've mentioned, but the quality of the food, the service, the ambience will be worth it.
