I believe a key thing to look for when it comes to air movement is the angle of the blades (blade pitch?). You probably want to look at size of blades and number of blades together. If the blades are narrow, I think more would work better. Length of blades are also important - make sure you get the proper size for the size of your room.
You do get what you pay for. What is your budget? I bought this one for my bedroom:
http://www.1stoplighting.com/lighting/7-379-530-0-210071/Emerson-Fans_Curva-Sky---44--Ceiling-Fan-CF144.htm. It's very quiet and I've had absolutely no issues with it. It can run all day long and the motor doesn't burn out. 1 Stop Lighting offers free shipping to Canada on many items and I've ordered from them plenty of times. I find they have better selection than Home Depot, Rona, etc. I have a Monte Carlo brand ceiling fan in my living room and it's awesome. It moves around so much air and cools the room down quickly. Motor on this brand is even better than Emerson.
Good luck in your search. Feel free to ask me any questions. I love ceiling fans
