Just a note to everyone...

We live in phase 9A. The standard faucet in our kitchen (aside from being butt-ugly) had started to leak. Rather than go through all the hassle of getting an ugly replacement, we decided to just buy a new tap. Imagine our surprise when we removed the old faucet and found out that there was NO putty or sealant around the base of the faucet. Just a molded piece of plastic the same size as the base. We already had some mold and mildew starting to form in the holes cut into the counter.

I guess that the installer thought that this piece of plastic would be sufficient to keep the water out. It wasn't! You may want to consider checking your own faucet out and investing in a small tub of plumber's putty.

That is exactly what happened with ours. Since my husband installed the new faucet we have had no problems at all.

I can't remember the brand, but it is a tall one with the sprayer hose affixed to the nozzle. So basically, rather than a faucet and a separate hose, the nozzle comes out of the faucet. It sounds weird when I explain it but it is just the greatest thing!
