Had a VERY close call last night turning left out of Magurn Gate onto northbound Scott. There were so many parked cars you can't see any southbound traffic and if you creep up past them to try and see if it's clear, your already halfway into the lane. Just missed a speeding small white car and I'm sure that we both had heart palpitations for a while afterward. While I'm on a roll, ..... here on Magurn gate we have NO parking on the south side of the street that has rear parking townhouses so there are no driveways and a vast area where parking could be had all along the street. Meanwhile on the north side we have only sparse areas between driveways to park. The logic of this is non-existant! Anyway, that's enough for today... |

Blame the builders for building homes that don't suit our needs; blame ourselves for buying them. |

I remember reading an article on something similar to this in The Champion, last year? Seem to remember it was about people parking on the "boulevard" sections of their driveways, if their driveways are within a certain distance from an intersection, causing a sight-line obstruction. Apparently the "boulevard parking" as above is a technical infraction of a bylaw ... BUT it will only be enforced on a call-in basis by complainers, and only investigated once per call. IOW, its up to the general tax-paying public to blow the whistle on problem parkers. I guess the enforcement staff need to be prompted, too busy...? Colin? Have I got this right? |

What you said is a very potentially dangerous situation for Scott residents (one of my wards - number eight), so I'm all over it thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will have the town send parking enforcement to enforce the parking restrictions (today, and as much as needed). What B&T402 said is basically true. Have a good long weekend. People park right up to the corners on the side streets off of Scott. There needs to be no parking signs at least 10-15 feet from intersections, to prevent having to pull into the road to see oncoming traffic. |

Actually, it's the government (provincial in this case) that has legislated the density of new developments to be what it is. When you couple that with the urban design standards that are created and enforced at the municipal level, you end up with what we have today. While I don't think the overall end result in Milton is bad, things like no turning lanes, poor visibility for making turns, dangerous driveway configurations, etc, are the result of zoning laws at both the mentioned levels of government. Has anyone ever turned out of the Rabba parking lot onto Trudeau, beside where the blockbuster was? You probably noticed there is absolutely ZERO visibility of the sidewalk, meaning the only safe way to cross the sidewalk is to drive extremely slowly.... which no one does, making this a very dangerous spot. Yup, you can thank the zoning regulations and planners for that. |

Agree with Stuck Here Hate when people park right up to the intersection causing a dangerous situation with incoming traffic, people leaving the intersection, etc |

Yup. you are right. The greenbelt plan gave everyone carte blanche to build like this and cram us in like sardines out in the exurbs of the city - ie middle of nowhere. I feel for those that have this bad situation with their cars. Just about everyone who lives in the suburbs owns at least 2 cars, and parking them in a line - ie single car garage and driveway, in many ways forces people on the road for at least portions of the day as people stagger as they come home from work. As more and more single car driveways pop up, and more and more of us have kids that will one day want to drive, the more you're going to see this parking mess get worse. But hey... we're out of space out here. |

This happens when the sidewalk cuts everyone's driveway in half too... wish they wouldn't do that. |

Need more bike lanes, less roads, sidewalks and grass. Then there will be no accidents or close calls ever!! Who needs a velodrome now!! City budget 2014!!! |

Holmes and Scott as well, daily a grey van on corner on Scott, cannot see past van to get out of Holmes. If they could move up to the next space it may help. |

I think the city is going backwards with increasing the parking on streets from 3 to 5 hours. |

on that section of road, parking limit is 15 hours!!!! I think it's ridiculous. and the fact that people park on their boulevard with their cars hanging over the road and the sidewalk. it's horrible to drive through that area. people need to use their garages to park their cars and the city needs to change this crazy 15 hour parking limit. there are times where i feel like someone is going to walk onto the road in front of my car because they are walking around a car that's parked on the boulevard blocking the sidewalk. |

Just report the cars that are parking within X meters of the intersection. Or leave a note on their windshield. I've done the note thing in my last house and the owner complied. I don't think they realized it was impeding vision, innocent mistake. |
