Can anyone tell me what outdoor running tracks there are in Milton? I am looking for one made of that spongy stuff but would settle for one that just isn't made out of tiny rocks.
Thanks!

It's not outdoors but have you been to the track in the Sports center
It cost $5.00 for the year and you run in the upper level of the ice rink
It is kept at a great temp for running summer or winter
You can purchase your yearly $5.00 pass at the counter where you pay for swimming or skate lessons
You run on a floor no pebbles

And they have child care in the room beside the track. There is a huge glass wall so you can see your children being care for while you run

For the summer check out the Milton Fair Grounds. I has a long oval track around the whole grounds. Google map it and check the image.

The highschool on Commercial Street by Brian Best Park also has a spongy track. When I did the Running Free running clinics two summers ago we did our running there. I don't know how well it's maintained (if at all) over the winter months, if someone shovels or salts it. But a good option if there's no snow or ice.

Yes, the CKHS track is a standard 400m outdoor rubberized track. I've used it many times. Sometimes the main entryway facing the school is closed, but you can always enter from the southeastern corner just off Fourth Line.

That's great, thanks! I just started running in the summer and my knees are hurting already. Hoping to alternate road running with spongy tracks.
Is 400m the standard outdoor size? So CK and MD tracks would be the same?

I did the Milton indoor track for the first time on the weekend- wierd to run inside! Only problem was I kept losing count of how many laps I ran and my Runkeeper app wouldn't work.

Thanks

I have never liked running on a track, and actually have problems running on a track with my rotator cups. Oddly I find running on the roads much easier on my knees, mostly because it's fewer turns than on a track.

You should really have your knee looked at before continuing to run so as not to aggravate anything. My initial knee pain was helped by wearing a knee brace which my physiotherapist had me fitted for. But after some intense track work, followed by a marathon, I tore my meniscus and had to stop running.

I use the indoor track and have had similar issues about not being able to keep count of the laps or my run keeper does not work. For the record, none of my running apps or running watches work! I just time the first 5.5 laps as that is what 1 km is for that track. Then I keep going and divide my 1 km lap time to my total time. It's still an estimate but it's pretty close. Happy running.

If you are looking for an app that works indoors for running the Nike+ app works fairly well on the indoor track. It doesn't use the GPS function when you select your run as indoors. The only drawback is you will have to hold your device in your hand for it to accurately register your km's when running inside.

The Fairgrounds track is peastone. Also it is a solid sheet of ice at the moment.
