I know there are a few people on here who would be able to give you some good feedback on the highschools. Good Luck! Jessica |

You didn't specify whether your child would be going public or seperate. If seperate then Bishop Redding is the only Catholic High school in town. It is a very good school. If you are in hawthorne Village, most likely your home public high school would be E.C. Dury, your daughter would have to go there for Grade 9, then opt for a transfer if she didn't like it. The other one is Milton District HS, IMO, the better of the 2 public choices. EC Drury is scheduled to close once the new high school opens up which I believe is going on Thompson south of Derry. |

You should check the Halton District School Board's web site under Milton schools to see which school they would be attending. Most areas south of Derry road are going to Milton District High school. E.C.Drury High school is scheduled to close in 2010 for a new high school somewhere along Thompson around Louis St. laurent when they find a site and the provinicial funding for it, you may want to contact Donna Danielli the area trustee for more information. My two teens go to MDHS and they think it's great, the Principal Ian Jones has been there 9 years and the parents council which I sit on has told the Board not to move him. Check the board web site for school bus schedules in your area. Colin Best Local & Regional Councillor Wards 2 & 4 |

WHAT!!! But...but... all us Spartan alumni... we'll never have high school reunions or anything! (Not that, AFAIK, we ever had any anyway). That's too bad, because in the 80's, E.C. Drury was a great school to be at, before they developed half the grounds to houses, back when the horticultural students (aka the wrestling team) actually did some gardening and maintained the grounds. Well, bleh, this news just makes me feel old and sad. Toss me a beer, Matt! |

I went to MDHS personally, though my Mom tried to get me to go to Bishop Redding. I was like...naaaah... I liked Milton District. I went there mostly because of the good music program. And cuz it was within walking distance when we lived at Bronte and Heslop. Ahh, the good ole days! Of MD and EC, MD was more of a "university" school, EC being more of a "college" school. There were more trade-type courses offered at EC, and they had "basic" courses, whereas MD had general and advanced. Oh, even enriched too. lol I did grade 10 enriched Math, and then I had had enough of enriched anything! Just thinking about the brain teaser type stuff we did is giving me a headache! |
