Interested in the 18-140mm by Nikon and the 16-85mm.

Curious if anyone has the lenses above and can provide feedback. based on initial research I think I can go wrong with either.

I currently have the 35mm prime lens and looking for something now with a zoom.

I think the difference between 16 and 18 is negligible - unless you do a lot of indoor in small rooms - but I think you will really appreciate the 140 over the 85, indoor or outdoor. Other specifications need to be considered too, most notably maximum aperture, but if they are close, get the 18-140, IMHO.

Thanks for the response. I'm leaning towards this.

On the wide end, every mm counts. Difference between 18mm and 16mm is larger than you'd think!

B&T402 is right though, see what the max aperture is, odds are the 18-140 is going to be much slower than the 16-85, superzooms like that are never fast. On the other hand, if you're going for a walk-around general lens, then the flexibility of the 18-140 is hard to beat, even if it'll be a bit slower.

So answer as always is it depends on what you're looking for. Can't just make a decision based on zoom range.

I am LOVING my new Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS lens.

Truth be told, this is my first ditch the kit lens... but it was still an amazing chose.

how much did you pay for the 17-50 Wyl? I really love the 35mm prime lens as the aperture is 1.8.

Plus i can always crop, i feel like to find a more generic lens but not lose the good quality is so tough.

Traded in my stock Nikon, and picked up a crystal lens cover and flash puffer... Whole thing was about $600 @Henrys
