It is that time of year again. The Halton Sportsman’s Association will be hosting a free CHILDREN’S fishing derby at Mill Pond. The pond will be stocked with hundreds of rainbow trout for the children to catch. Along with prizes for the biggest fish there will be many raffle prizes throughout the day. There will also be food and drinks.

The fun begins at 7:00am. All you have to bring is your own rod, reel and hooks. We will provide the worms (until they run out) and any of the association members will be happy to help and answer any questions you may have. Adults can fish after 12:00.

Can I assume it is this Saturday, April 26th?

Yes, this Saturday April 26. The location is Mill Pond. That is the pond in the middle of town right off Martin St.

Thank you to everyone who came. There was a good turn out despite the rain. Only about 25-30 fish were registered as caught which means there is still about 400-500 left. Enjoy the fishing.

Had a couple of bites today with my son. Too many adults taking up prime spots with no kids in sight. These adults were catching more than the 2 maximum. These fish went unregistered as they had no kids to register them with.

Apparently it has been crazy busy in the evenings this week with people fishing.
I wonder how long it will be before its trout population is completely fished out; my guess is by the end of this weekend.
