| Post subject: | Question about installing gazebo on interlocking stones |
Hey guys, we are going to do interlocking on our backyard and put a hard top gazebo on it. The hard top gazebo we are going to buy is 10' X 12' which weights 94 kg. We can use concrete screw to screw the pole to the interlocking stone. Hoever, our concern is that the biggest pice of the stones is something like 18" X 18" which weights about 18 kg(40 pounds). We can screw 4 poles on 4 pieces of such stone and the total waight (gazebo + stones) will be 166 kg. We are wondering is that enough? In the past years, Milton had some strong winds. We are a little bit worried if it can stand in the windy day. Any tips are welcome. Thanks. |

We had our gazebo screwed into our deck with 2" woodscrews. A few years ago there was a very strong wind gust and it ripped the gazebo right of the deck. Flew over the house on top of our car in the driveway. Must have been a freak accident. I would really bolt that sucker down if I were you. |

I would maybe poor some concrete (in a bell shape) underneath where the gazebo will be, then you can drill right down into it after. |

Definitely agree that you need proper footings. We also did a gazebo with an interlocking patio. The posts were all screwed to the concrete and then the interlocking was installed over top. It's been 6 years and the gazebo hasn't budged. Checked out the photo posted on another topic under backyard pics (sorry haven't figured out how to link to another topic). |

If your doing all that, you have to consider making it a sunroom for year round use and expand your living space. I never liked Gazebo's in urban backyards. They belong in massive public parks with banjo playing bands in them. |

Seeing as pissing off neighbours may becoming a trend in Milton, get one of these puppies installed...

you can maybe build a concrete wall on one side to block the wind. |
