So I missed the Sears super sale on Craftsmen lawn mowers. And I was hoping to find another mower the same quality. The Honda sale is good, but I don't want to spend $369 on a lawn mower for the size of my lot. I was hoping to stay in the $200 range.

With a quick internet search, I found a brand name 'Canadiana products' mowers. Lowes is carrying them exclusively. They seem pretty good with a Briggs and Stanton engine, and steel blade housing. Anyone have experience with them?

Anything better out there?

For the size lots we have, I don't think anything you find will be a problem. Heck, I'm still using my dad's 20 year old hand me down Noma lawn mower! He gave it to me when we bought our first house and said "when it breaks down, buy a new one". That was 9+ years ago. LORD knows I neglect the thing - I don't user gas/oil mixed fuel, I've never put in fuel stabilizer in the winter, NOTHING special. Ridden hard and put away wet... Almost hoping it does break down so I can get a new one!!

I think Briggs & Stratton make about 85% of the yard equipment out there. They just slap a different label on it for each store. Reliable mechanics and I've found their customer service folks to be pretty good at getting you the help you need. (I lost the ignition tab/switch on my snow blower and they not only told me who in town carried the right one, but that I could "trick" the machine with a popcicle stick until I made it to the store.)

For a postage sized lawn use a trimmer. Works great and takes up no space in garage

told my sister to get that for her town home. If you miss a week it's a BITCH to cut as the grass gets too thick...

Get a Yardworks one from Crappy Tire, they frequently go on sale. I've had no issues with a Yardworks trimmer, and CTC seem to honour their warranties as long as you keep the bill.

My hand-me-down Black and Decker electric mower is entering her 24th summer of service, purchased in 1990 by my parents when I was still a kid - no joke. It's unbelievable how durable it has been; they don't make stuff now like they used to. It started bogging last summer, and I learned that it was due to years of grass and dirt built up underneath the motor cover, so the motor couldn't breathe and was choking. I took off the cover, blew out the motor area with compressed air, and it's running great again. I mowed my lawn for the 1st time this season tonight and it worked fantastic. 8)

Man, I miss the good old days when everything was well-built, and planned obsolescence wasn't an MO of manufacturers. :(

You do have a postage size lawn if an 18" cord is all you need for your electric mower!

I have no idea how good it is, but it has a Briggs and Stratton engine which you were interested in.

Call Halton Power equipment and ask Darcy what he can do for you. Buy local and support local business instead of lining the box stores pockets. You may have a small yard but if you always buy on price you will be disappointed eventually Get a good quality mower that will last for many years.

+1. Learned that lesson the hard way. You get what you pay for.
