We are in a town closing next year. We were told that because we back onto semis, the fence behind us will be built. If we were backing onto other towns, there would be no fence. Why would they say they don't build fences then? Who is building the fences then?

Actually, Mattamy builds fences at the end of a row of houses (usually ends up being one of the corner units) so you can't see down into the backyards of that row of houses (detached, semi's, etc....). It is up to the indiviual home owners to fence the rest of their yard, but if you are a lucky one who is at the end of a street, chances are Mattamy will put a fence up.

Take a look in some of the old neighbourhoods and you will see what I mean. THey used to paint them an off white, but now it looks like they are leaving it that cedar colour (much nicer).

I thought Mattamy was going to install the trademark Hawthorne Village fence along the borders of the communities (the fence in the HV logo pic) behind the horse)-look at the top left corner of this web page. They already have in for the homes across the street from the sales centre and infront of the model homes.

Builders do not have to build a fence as other's don't I think mattamy just choose to do them in some areas.
