Hi, I need to replace my door bell transformer. I have no luck finding it in the basement or electrical panel.

Any idea where the Mattamy electrician would probably installed it?

have you checked in the bell housing?

if not there, i wouldn't be in your panel but near it... but i'd first look inside the bell housing though

Typically it's either on the inside or outside of the panel. Some builders attach them to one of the electrical boxes for the overhead lights in the basement.

Mine was attached to the basement smoke detector box.

Most are attached to the electrical panel.

It often looks like this one with two thin wires coming from it, and is usually for Mattamy (but not always) mounted very close to your electrical panel.
Usually double tapped into a 15Amp breaker as well :)

Anyone have any other ideas on where it might be? Looked in the locations mentioned, no luck finding it.

Can you find the doorbell wire? Assuming your basement is unfinished, you should be able to see where the wire is leading up to the front door area and follow it back to the transformer.

If you have a cold room then it could also be connected to the light fixture junction box.

Hi,
Hoping someone can help...I have a mattamy home built in 2011 and I'm also looking for the door bell transformer. I've checked behind the doorbell chime, the electrical panel in the basement, behind the smoke detector in the basement, behind the smoke detector on main floor foyer. Don't see anything in the garage or in the closet nearest the front door.

Any other places I should be looking?
