Does anyone out there know when Anne J MacArthur (the elementary school on Farmstead) is actually going to be finished? It's starting to look a little ghetto, re:missing panels and landscaping.

We're new to the HDSB, not sure if this is normal for them.

Didn't they just lay out all the sod last Friday? Figured they waited till the last day of school so the kids wouldn't trample on the grass and prematurely kill it.

Some pieces are still missing on the outside of the school- I agree, it's starting to look ghetto. At this rate it looks the catholic school down will be fully completed first and Anne MacArthur opened in February.

Hello,

I am the new Halton District School Board Trustee for Milton Wards 1, 6, 7, 8 (Nancy MacNeill resigned when she moved out of the area).

Here is the information regarding the completion of Anne J MacArthur school: The panels should be up in about two weeks and the rest of the grounds work should be finished in four weeks.

Since I was just sworn in on Wednesday, I am not up and running with a hdsb email address or phone number yet. I will introduce myself to the Hawthorne Villager community more formally when I have that contact information in place.

Best Regards.
Kim Graves

I've been wondering too. I don't get why it is SO difficult to put up the rest of whatever that weird grey siding is supposed to be. How hard is it to finish THAT? The half done/particle board crap they have going on looks awful.

The state of the Catholic school in comparison is embarrassing. Their parking lot and driveway is already done and pristine and meanwhile the circular driveway at AJM will take the bottom off your car coming out the south side.

Agreed. What a random contribution to the thread.

It's the new school on Farmstead. Now you know.

FYI Kim posted this on July 5th, sorry for the 2 day delay in approving her first post/account.

Thanks Kim.

Thank you for the reply and PM as well Kim; I truly appreciate your response. I'm assuming the delays are as a result of the extended winter we experienced?
Being new to the board and with a growing family (soon to be entering school age) I'm hoping this isn't a reflection of the future care of the school.

Thanks Rick!

Andrew & Andrea, yes the snow this year and the length of the winter affected the build timeline.

I drive by everyday and see very little completed on the building itself. Still no panels up and it's been 2 weeks. The ground was flattened and grass put down at the back but the building looks the same and the parking lot is a mess.

Thanks for the update Jiji - I will look into this again, especially regarding the panels.

Yes, please do. It will be much appreciated.
I had friends visiting Scotland and one of them commented that its great for my child that they are building a school down the street from me. I had to inform them that the school was already occupied. Very embarrassing!
