He's my all time favorite player. Not sure he can fix us not having a cup here with this team, but whatever he does here, I hope he's a success at it.

Good summary Pete, more changes than I thought. Time will tell, I guess, including some possible trades during the season.

Was not happy with what I saw last night. While there were bursts of what looked like good hockey, the overall game was lack luster. Sloppy offence, little to no hard hitting and they were just one their heels most of the time after the second period. I recognize Montreal is a good team, but we should be too.

The second and third lines were looking good, and FFS, the Leafs timing couldn't have been any worse picking up a guy with the last name Panik to mimick the panic that's being expressed among Leafs Nation, hahaha.

It's just one game.....we're gonna win some games, but probably not enough to make top 8 in the East. Time will tell!

now it appears Frattin is gone with the waiver pickup of Panik today. Solid no-risk move with a potentially high reward. Guy hits like a freight train.

If by "freight train" you mean dirty and illegal, then ya. You got a real winner there.

The one thing that has me optimistic after the opening loss is, its a nice change of pace. We usually come out of the gate like a bat out of hell and lead the standings for the first 4-6 weeks, then sh*t the bed. Maybe this change in M.O. is a sign of greatness to come.

And while I like what Panik can bring, why not just keep Gleeson?

I think I'm going to take a while to warm up to our new goal song.

"this is gunna be the best day of our lives"???? I mean part of that song is ok with the "whoa oh uh oh oh ohhhh" part. It's something the fans could kinda get into... but then the chorus kicks in and it turns to pure suck.

Was it Chicago that originally blarred that horn in the old stadium? Buffalo used to have it as well I seem to recall. I remember loving/hating that horn when I was a kid listening on the radio. I remember Todd Gill coughing up the puck and costing us a playoff berth way back in the 80's and that damn horn going off. I was so mad. :)

A few of them are good around the league:

Chelsea Dagger is good in Chicago. St. Louis has the gong counting the goals. Washington has the siren that I'm only a little partial to. The Rangers have a good song as well that the crowd gets into.

Maybe this Toronto one will grow on me.... But I'm not so certain. I just can't get into that chorus.

Time to update that thread title to 0-2-0, as there were moments last night where it looked like pros were playing juniors.

The leafs were heavily outshot in the game vs. Chicago. Very much the same team as last year. But I still have faith.

I was watching Dragon's Den so I didn't turn to the game until a bit after 9, so when I saw 4-0, I thought I was hallucinating, but it turned out they played very well and had good luck to boot.

Happy to see! My favourite Leaf is Leo Komarov.
