Am I the only one upset and frankly worried about the safety concerns and image that the vacant Ontario Street houses are portraying? I know that the owners of the land were mandated to board up the windows however the front of one house has a wall of bricks that have fallen over. Heaven forbid someone was there when that happened.

Each of those houses back onto a park / wooded area and with the summer coming will be a great hangout spot for anyone looking for a quiet and private place. I'm not sure when these houses are scheduled for demolition but I hope it's soon.

Next to these houses we have a residents that has now been transformed into a physic reading facility with a lovely neon sign and most recently a rolling sign just off the road. I'm just venting here but this stretch of road has some of the first things that people see coming into downtown Milton from the QEW and frankly I feel it paints this beautiful town in the negative light.

Why did those houses even get boarded?

I don't have any of those thoughts when passing that stretch. Considering what's coming there, I just think of the (relative) waste of nice lots and structures it represents, and whether this town is on the right track planning-wise. Once upon a decade, those were very nice secluded spots almost out in the country. Plenty of examples around the GTHA. The developers will always find these spots, and get their way.

You're right about these houses and the lovely lots that they're on. They always seemed to me like the perfect style home on such a busy street. They were pushed back just enough to have some privacy for the residents. It's a shame to see such a large mature area being taken up by cramped housing.

That is prime Milton land. It won't stay that way for long.

They have a site plan proposed for the area. 3 storey upscale town houses backing onto the ravine, and 3 storey stacked town houses for the rest of the site.

Hi Hunter, can you explain the term "stacked"? As in a Mattamy village home? Also, what's all that going to look like from the street? Any elevation sketches available? I'm afraid it will be more of the same uggo crap we see along Main St.

That would be where to go to look for streetscapes, if they are at that stage.

Wouldn't surprise me if enterprising Miltonians were visiting this site and take items they believe would look good either on or in their houses. This could potentially create a dangerous situation, plus create an ugly eyesore. Would it not be possible for the town to become pro-active and take these houses down at their expense and charge the developer if and when permits to build are issued?

I'm concerned with the number of these stacked condos. Stacked condos are needed in Toronto. We are too small for so many. Most are already rentals.

I lived in a stacked condo in Burlington. They work in any town. It’s a great design for people who want to live in a town house that isn’t shaped like a cigar tube.

The funny thing is that people can get worked up about a handful of boarded up homes that are going to be removed in the near future, and nobody gives a crap that the first thing you see when you get off the Hwy is a bunch of cheaply built condo complexes that scream “future slum area” area so loud that there are already hookers operating out of them.

What are you referring to, the places on Main and Maple?
