Here's a strange question...we just moved into our 2 year old house in January, so everything around us is finished. One thing I've noticed...NO ONE walks on the sidewalks! I could understand that when there was snow covering them, but today, with the roads/sidewalks clear (no parked cars blocking them either), I passed about 8 people who were out walking, some with dogs, some with strollers, every single one of them walking down the road about 3 feet from the curb. What the? With all of the parked cars around here, it's nearly impossible to see them if you're turning into a road. I drive very slowly, because I know there are a lot of dogs and children around, but some people drive way too fast, and these people just strolling in the road.

Can anyone explain this to me?

That IS wierd. I can't say I agree with you though. Now that the sidewalks are clear of snow I see MOST ppl walking on the sidewalks (with the exception being the brand new areas where the sidewalks aren't complete). The only thing I can think of is some people like to park directly on the sidewalk so you are forced onto the road (a big pet peeve of mine since I am usually juggling a stroller and a dog while going around these cars).

Can I ask what area you are in?

I'm in phase 9B off Irving...so it's been finished for quite a while.

I live on Irving and people have done this since day one. I also find it very strange, but for some reason the people in our area like to walk on the street instead of the sidewalk. Last summer I had to ask people to move because they were standing in the middle of the street in front of my house chatting.

I think because we are a cul-de-sac with no through access people don't worry about traffic in our area. Welcome to the neighbourhood!!! :D

Before the fences went up we found that lots of our neighbours were walking through our backyard rather than going around. The only way to stop them from doing this was to build the fence. I tried speaking to them, yelling at them and standing on my front porch barely restraining my dog, who was freaking out. They still marched through our backyard whenever they felt like it. (and allowed their children to play there too, but don't get me started on that!)
