I am more than a little upset. I just found out that the EXACT same house will be next door to me. (I'm not a Mattamy though)

Just wanted some feedback, I know Mattamy's policy was that they wouldn't have the same house next to each other, unless it was a different elevation that was very different architecturally.

Has anyone heard otherwise?? I know for instance, there are places in earlier phases where the 3 Lindsay elevations are all next to each other, but the 3 dormer, 5 window, and arch elevations you wouldn't know are the same house unless you looked at the floor plans.

In my situation, the only difference between elevation A and B is one is all stone, the other mainly siding, and one has a porch, the other has a more formal traditional door way.

I'm going to contact further up with the builder tomorrow as the sales centre was no help....(they obviously have already received their commission cheques) as well as the Town, as I know it is them that ultimately approve what houses can go side by each.

I'm just frustrated as they also showed me the brick colour, etc. of the exterior colours, and we are both basically grey. No real difference in colour either, and I also checked to see if my neighbor at least had a flip floor plan, and that isn't the case either.

I think it will look ridiculous having the same house next to each other, and I'm just upset as for our "dream house" this is definately not what I had planned.

Thanks for letting me rant..... :)

Jessica :)

We had a similar issue...we chose our lot, picked our model and elevation and an hour later we got a call from the sales centre that we couldn't get that elevation on that particular lot because it had already been chosen on the lot beside us. We ended up chosing another eleavation and also decided to pick another lot. This occured in January '07 which is pretty recent, so chances are that the rules are probably the same at this point.

I have seen two same models side by side in 14b. Near by the park.
But they forced us to another elevation because of this reason in 15a.

Hi Robi;
We didn't purchase this one with Mattamy, it's another builder in the area....
I know Mattamy will put 2 different elevations side by side, but normally the structural "look" of the houses are quite different....ours elev a and Elev B look almost identical, except for the materials used to build the house, one being stone the other siding/brick. So I guess it's just my opinion, but I don't agree that they should be side by side, as they are "too similar", though they are different elevations.

We don't get to pick our brick at this builder, the exterior colour packages are pre-determined by lot....I also don't want to change lots, as it's a premium lot, and that was the deciding factor for us to purchase new again...it's incomparable with anything else.

oh well, I have a call in to their head office and the town, and I'll see what I can come up with.

Jessica :)

I agree with the above. I look at the 2 elevations of the home I am currently in and you would not even believe it was the same house. I remember a converation I had with a neighbour last summer and they were commenting on the fact that they had no idea what house "A" looked like in the inside and they couldn't believe it when I said that is our house but in brick. Like your situation the 2 elevations are either siding or brick and a big front porch and no porch at all...completely different in most eyes. I wouldn't let that get you down on your dream home.

thanks everyone!! I was just irked...I know there will be some differences, and I think the builder is going to see about options for even just changing the exterior colour for one, which would help a lot as well.

I just needed a little rant, I think :)

My support group...lol
