Town Committees are a great opportunity to provide input on issues facing the community. They cover a broad range of areas from Community Services, Heritage Milton, Library, Hydro, Accessibility, Seniors Activity Centre and others.

Details are here. Applications due by Feb 2nd.

Do you have to be employed in Milton? I read that, or be a student...have I interpreted that correctly?

I was surprised to read that 5 volunteers are responsible for this:

"The Committee of Adjustment and Consent is composed of five Milton residents. The Committee meets once each month to consider applications for minor variances, land division, and extensions, enlargements or variations of existing, legal non-conforming uses."

I assume certain skills, education, or experience is required? I will read up on this to learn more!

Rick, can you comment on the employment requirement? Is that something new?

It says you have to be a resident of Milton, OR

 an owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant;
 a minimum of 18 years of age on the date of appointment;
 employee(s) of a business located in the municipality or student(s) attending a school located in the Town of Milton

Confusing at best. I don't think they mean that anyone 18 years of age can apply. I believe it should read:

"A resident of Milton, OR

 an owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; OR
 employee(s) of a business located in the municipality or student(s) attending a school located in the Town of Milton

All applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age on the date of appointment (with the exception of the Accessibility Committee (which is reduced to 15 years of age)"

Yes, you do not have to be an employee in Milton. Sorry it sounds like it could have been worded a bit better.
