I am sending a package to a friend in northern Ontario. It's pretty big--I've used a box from a crock pot. Anyone send packages regularly and know which method would be the cheapest? FedEx? Ups? Canada Post? Thanks! |

You want send it expedited canada post, if its breakable be sure to bubble wrap it well. Insurance is free up to $100, ins. Does not cover dishes & breakables. This method is the most cost effective & is fairly speedy. (Yes, I ship lots of stuff myself, so I know what I'm talking about) cheers. |

Take a look at the cost to send it greyhound. If there is a bus, sometimes its cheap. Its how my mom used to send stuff to me in St. Catherines from Guelph |

It won't be Greyhound to send Northern Ontario it will be Ontario Northland. |

Go to a big office of Canada post, they have programs that offer reduced fees for shipping food to northern Canada... sometimes they ship entire crates and you split the cost, don't just go by online estimators... you might also want to contact some First Nations organizations who are more familiar with getting food up there. I had a friend who taught in a no road access town and everything had to be shipped. |

Thanks! It's not going to a fly in community, just to Kenora! Which is pretty north, but no super duper north |
