Looking to register my 4 year old in soccer this summer. Does anyone have any reviews for the Milton Soccer Academy - either weekly soccer program or summer camps?

Much appreciated.

Our son was in the weekly soccer program last year. We saw that there was a huge variety in coaches. Some were great with the kids, some were very strict, and others didn't really do much with the kids. We had a coach that didn't seem to sure how to manage a group of four year olds and it was very disorganized. I'd say that each week anywhere from up to half the kids on the team didn't want to participate. We were disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it. Sportball Soccer was a much better experience. I've also heard very good things about Milton Magic (that they spend half the time on learning skills and the other half doing a game).

I've had my kids in MSA for several years - i find it better organized than MIlton Soccer (which we tried for a couple years).

That being said, as stated above, who you get as a coach can be a major factor. Our son last year had a great young coach (really enjoyed him, and had fun). That being said, there are a few (one in particular) who is SUPER competitive - and even brought my sons assistant couch (a young lady) to tears during one of the matches.

Andrew.

For 4 yrs old, I would vote Magic -- more "fun".
We had our son in Milton Magic for a couple of years, then moved him over to the Academy when he was 6 since he wanted something more competitive -- if your kid goes a little beyond the "fun fun hooray everybody's a winner" stage, the Academy becomes the better fit. The Academy seems more geared towards skills development, and definitely a path to more serious soccer.
I agree with Andrew, week in and week out, you saw some coaches who were fantastic, and others that didn't seem to want to be there unfortunately. That was the only downside.
My kid loved it, and the Academy asked us to put him in the more advanced ADP team or whatever they called it - but at 3 nights a week minimum, that would make him a soccer kid and nothing more, and that's where the rougher play and more hard core sports-parenting is found :) ... and we're not getting into anything that serious yet. He is 7 this year, and we are going back to the Academy (but the regular house league version), and I think it will be a really good fit. Still challenging but still fun (I hope!).
At 4, I'd vote for the Magic - our guy had fun there - after that age, we preferred the Academy.

Good luck either way!

Hey Fred. If you want serious, Milton Magic does that as well. They have a JDP program starting at U7. My daughter is in her second year and it's pretty serious. When she does goalie training as well, it's 4 nights a week. Crazy parents we are.

You're one of them crazy parents, huh? :)
oh it starts up there at U7 - great I had no idea -- thanks Dev, maybe we will take another peek at it before committing for sure.
