Julie!

Don't worry - it will fit!

We bought a large refrigerator, the Maytag Wide-By-Side, and it's height is 70", and there is still lots of room - ie. we didn't have to wedge it in or anything.

We were very concerned about that too at first, because we knew we wanted a large fridge, and didn't want to be stuck with an opening too small.

But, the standard size will be fine if you have a 70" fridge!

Hope that helps!

Laurie

we measured our standard opening from mattamy and it's ~$72"high. so i second what laurie said - don't worry it will fit!!

btw, our design consultant told us before hand that the standard openings are more than 69"high.. which makes me wonder why they put 69" on the documentation :?

Hmmm, that's weird. Our DC, Agapi, told us that it is usually exactly 69" and she charged us $107 to increase the height to 70". :?: :?:

Well, the design consultants are paid to consult....and sell.

This is just one of those things you wouldn't know unless you ask first I guess?

We only knew that the fridge would be ok because we spoke to other people we met in line that had already been told their fridge would fit ok.

I am in the same boat as you guys, we got a 70" fridge, we spoke to our DC and she told us that it would fit. She said that the standard opening is around 71"-72". We move in at the beginning of May, so I guess I'll find out then.

Hi All,
Do any of you know if Mattamy will accomodate appliances of any size..ie, 36' x 84'fridge and a 48' wide range?
Thanks,
Christine

I don't think that is a problem. You just have to amke arrangements during you design appointment and cough up the money for it!

My suggestion is to give the specs of the appliances to Mattamy before the construction starts. They can tell you what will work and what won't work. It's especially important if you're gettting countertops that need to be specially cut for the appliances you're fitting.

Our fridge is 69 1/2" with the door brackets on. We have the deep cabinet above the fridge and we have no problems.
