Hey, anyone here go with someone like Bullfrog Power for their electricity supplier? I was considering it because they are 'green energy' suppliers but am a little turned off by what they charge (9.1 cents kw/h). Just curious if anyone else is with them or what you've heard of them. Thanks. |

We use bullfrog at the office, its sort of a funny market. If you consider that each KWH you buy at 9.1 cents is 1 less green KWH going into the grid, at the normal price. Also I'm not sure if BF does any sort of peak/off peak rates. They also reject nuclear power which is clean from a global warming perspective (there is a waste management issue of course.) And they use hydro electric, which may not produce any air born pollution but is extremely detrimental to the lake and river eco systems. Now the extra price per kilowatt in theory goes to green energy providers, and as already stated the more people who buy green power, the more green power they will build, and the prices will go down. Unfortunately, the GTA isn't really a great place for Wind Power, and Solar chews up a vast amount of farm land. Which is to say... There isn't a good solution to power, there is just a number of less bads. |
