Just a quick question for anyone of you that have closed a Mattamy or other energy star home.

Do you get a score card of how your home is rated in efficency?

What info do you get after closing?

Is there different things you have to do to your home to keep it efficent?

Any inf would be appreciated.

Tim

Hey Tim,

We will be closing our energy star home in 12 days. Once we're in I will let you know.

Regards,
Conrad

We closed APril 4th but I was told that I would not get the Energy Star certificate until our 30 day inspection. I am waiting for it because anyone buying an energy star house and having to pay CHMC insurace is entitled to a 10% rebate. I will let you know when I receive it...

Too bad, I don't see how it should be confidencial.

Do you know if they do a blower test on the house to give it the certification?

Tim

at Mattamy U, we (ph15) were told that there would be some sort of plaque on our house that will show it was an Enery Star home. Is there something like that on the exterior of the house....or were they referring to the sticker on the panel?

Anyone disappointed with the insulation in the basement? When Mattamy said the basement would be insulated I assumed it would be framed. So, what happends when I decided to finish the basement later? Could framing be placed ontop of the insulation directly? Would that afect the insulation rating?

Received my certificate, homeowner's guide and a nice heavy 4" X 4" metal plaque with the energy star logo (and no screws) to be mounted by me wherever. I think I'll pass with mounting it on the house though...

hey! we didn't get a plaque  we were only the second energy star house to close, though. i'm calling to get my plaque..

Keven & Mary - even though we aren't planning to finish the basement anytime soon.. hubby has already planned that when he does frame the walls, he will just pull up the insulation, nail the 2x4's to the concrete (with a very loud gun  ) and stuff the insulation back in the frame before drywalling.. there is no reason why you can't reuse it. oh - some say you should put a vapour barrior on the concrete first.

anyway, i'm not the handy one.. so my explaination may not be clear...but i hope it helps.
