I did the same too, but I mudded the seams and nails, then sanded, primed, painted. Wish I could have done this before I moved in, but I had a heck of alot of stuff I had to do before this. All I have to do now is paint the shelves I put up
When I sanded I went out and bought one of those sanding kits where you hook up your vacuum to the sanding head so I could cut down on the dust.
What I also did was put in insulation around the garage door & vapour barriered. Now all I have to do is add drywall.
Next project is to add blow in foam to the section that is only drywall.
