Hi all, I am looking at Mattamy homes in hawthorne and must say they are really nice but I cannot stand the old style sliding closet doors, the just look cheap... Has anybody replaced these with something nicer? if so, what have you done? I went to homedepot on the weekend to get some ideas but due to the size of the opening the choices were quite limited... |

I know what you mean. Most of our rooms have swinging doors for the closets, but the linen closet IN THE HALL has a sliding one. Hmmmm....I'm thinking it's going to really bug me. |

Honestly, these Mattamy homes are really nice, its just the closets, I mean seriously. And since the opening is so wide you can't easily replace them with doors... |

We had board sliders on our upstairs linen closet and we had them replaced with bi-folds. It wasnt such an expensive upgrade. In terms of the bedrooms, we are going to do it on our own over time. |

At least it is better than the fake wood laminate sliders I had in our last place! |

carrie, it seems all the rooms in the house we are looking at has them, and due to the size we are really stuck since the only other option seems to be replacing the dual track with tripple track. Then, the nice doors aren't available in tripple Damn Mattamy, what a stupid corner to cut!!! |

All of our bedrooms (phase 12/tothburg) have sliding doors too. They came with the wood-board sliding doors actually, but after closing we went to Mirror Interiors and had them upgrade them to mirror sliding doors. We like the mirror sliding doors more than normal wood closet doors. |

Do you remember what you paid for them afterwords? One word of advice , when we went there copule years ago and spoke to the receptionist person she gave us prices that were higher even than mattamy. Was surprised since Mirror Interiors is the vendor that Mattamy uses for their closets, and was expecting either similar or cheaper prices. But luckly we got a name/# of a sales person, and later on spoke to that sales person who cut us a good deal. It seems the prices that the receptionist has is sort of MSRP type of price list. Their "list" prices. But if you talk to someone in Sales, you can negotiate better prices, depending on how many closets, etc you are getting done, and also sometimes depending on the location/timing (because they usually have people in the hawthorne village area anyways doing work). It eventually worked out to having it all bought and installed (we didn't want to do the installations ourselves) for slightly less than the Mattamy prices (for the closets). We also did our glass shower door with them, picked something very nice, and that part was much cheaper than what Mattamy charges. I know you can get a better deal if you buy the stuff yourself and DIY installation. But I'm not handy at that, so wanted them to do it. |
