I'm going to be buying a gas stove. This is something I've always wanted and I finally talked the wife into it - her concern is the front controls and the fact that we have three young kids. As far as I know there is no way to lock out these controls and no stoves come with such a feature. The Jenn-air has top controls but you lose a LOT of stove top space so this is not going to happen.
What I was thinking was during the installation I would have the technician install a ball valve on the gas line and bring this up to beside the back of the stove where I could turn off the gas after use - this would mean if one of the kids tries to play with the knobs then nothing will happen.
Can anyone see any fault with this idea? Is it allowed? Obviously the valve will not look esthetically great, but I would do my best to hide it - maybe even put it in a cupboard beside the stove or something.
