If you really don't like the price of gas, follow the laws of economics and find another way of communting...you'll be happy, and I'll be happy (demand goes down) This reminds me of those people who thought that they could lower the demand of gasoline if they only filled up 10 dollars at a time...not realizing that all that meant was that you had to go to the gas station three times as often. I couldn't believe how many people thought that that made any sense. I might come off as sounding harsh, but I really don't mean to be. I just get so frustrated when people are so blind to economic reality. |

Hey Guys I have an idea 
how about going out and buying stock in Petro-Can, Shell, Exxon....etc. to become an owner of the gas companies and make money off of all the others out there who are too dopey to do the same.......just a thought..... 
ps....while you're at Petrocan pls buy lots of wiper fluid that stuff costs about 2 cents to make. PCA stock + 1.47, up 73% in last 2 years <edited by admin> |

Milton is but a tiny pimple on the big oil company's fat ass....the whole town could all switch to bicycles and rollerblades to get in and out of town and it would not make a dent in big oil's pocket. If you get a chance, tune into AM 640 and hear Lou Schizas and his 'happy capitalism' bits. They're great, I totally agree with his capitalist ideology when it comes to things like oil prices and gas....basically he says it's capitalism and until we change our habits (stop buying gas guzzlers that get maybe 23 miles/gal and switch to/demand cars like in Europe that get around 43 miles/gal) we need to put up or shut up. I bought a smaller sized SUV a year ago and now I'm wishing I went more fuel effecient. Well guess what? Sucks to be me. So I'm gonna suck it up, pay my $60-$100 a tank for now and my wife and I plan on going the Hybrid root (or better if available) on our next car. In my personal opinion, we can't do anything to change gas prices because not enough are willing to go the alternative route so for now, pay the price. |

I really want to buy a Toyota Prius in 2008. But my wife want's an SUV. She says we should comprimise and buy a Hybrid SUV...geez...what's the point.. I don't like SUVs. I want a Prius! Best hybrid out there. Actually, I'm a member of a secret society that's conspiring for the high gas prices. I'm hoping prices go to $2.00 a liter because this way I'll be able to convince my wife to get a prius instead of a SUV. See honey? We can't afford gas anymore! We need a prius! But don't tell anyone, as our conspiracy is very secret, and very evil. |

You know, in an environment-friendly way, wouldn't some people like David Suzuki and others be happy that gas prices are getting insanely high? Burning gas is bad for the environment. In parts of Europe where gas prices are so expensive, it's affected the countries over time where there's a lot more public transit, riding bikes, etc cause people just can't afford to drive anymore. I'm partially a hyopcrite because I live in Milton and work in Markham so have a long car-driving commute every day. That's why I so much need to buy a prius, it would help me stop burning as much gas. I'd actually be fine if they created a new "environment tax" on gas prices to raise the prices even higher, and if they used that money to help fund the kyoto accord changes or the like. But I'm in a very small minority with this opinion. |

The only idea that may work is to boycott one brand of gas station ESSO. If everyone get on the same boat this can be done. I know everyone will have their own thought... atleast let's give it a shot. |

I drive 120KM a day, sorry cannot boycott, and a boycott would be useless anyways. The day someone designs an engine that can drive 1000km on 1 litre is the day gas goes up to $200.00 a litre. The only way to get around this is to find alternative fuels or use public transit (which will rise then they are payinf $175/litre for diesel) Matt |

Being the owner of 2 SUVs, I can sympathize with your wife. We considered going the hybrid/economy route with our most recent purchase, however, with 2 small kids we needed the extra room that a small-UTE had to offer, at the non-hybrid price point. Something to consider if you are planning (and it looks like you are ) to have kids.
Trust me, there is nothing like it being the middle of winter trying to get your kids buckled into a carseat and constantly bending/bumping your head on the door frame... Or going out shopping and realizing that the stroller in your trunk prevents you from purchasing anything bigger than a box of tic-tacs... Derek |

Check out the environmental damage caused by the nickel mines in Sudbury, India and China. Batteries do give off gasses that have immediate health effects. My decision to buy would be effected by how the batteries are recycled. I've read an article that compares the net environmental damage of a Prius verses a Hummer. I won't tell you the final verdict until I find the article, but it's not what one would think. Personally, I like the high output electric motor/power plant design. Each wheel is powered by a high torque electric motor. A diesel gen-set running at 2200 RPM provides electricity for the motor. Keeping my Gas Price Theory as posted earlier in mind, high fuel prices will force companies to create or improve on technology. In the long run; it’s a good thing…in the short term: it really hurts.
