Welcome to the world of house construction where co-ordinating large construction projects of tract housing is not exactly a linear process.

Why is it a joke? There is no way to tell how long it will take to get permits. I am involved with a project in Cambridge that was held up over a year due to permit issues (and the sad part is there was nothing wrong with the original application, it was the one that was approved). Bringing a new large area of land on stream isn't simple, and if any one of hundreds of points (many of which are totally out of Mattamy's control) gets slowed up the whole thing is delayed.

Just for a little context... one of my co-workers is purchasing a new home in Vaughn... he is currently a year past his original occupancy date, and they only started digging his foundation this week.

Plus, you have to look at it from the other side of the spectrum.

Yes, it sucks to be delayed, but what about the people that get their date "bumped up", and aren't ready for that?

With the delays come some homes that are finished faster than expected, and there are 2 sides to each story.

We were lucky enough not to experience a delay, and we actually got bumped up by about a month.

We originally scheduled to close Feb. 06 and ended up getting the keys in Jan. 06.

Hopefully the delays won't cause too much of an inconvenience - Best of Luck!

Laurie
