Anyone have a go-to stand or shop? I'm in the southeast end of Milton. Don't really want to go to Chudleigh's...

Try Dar's Delights in Moffat, the only public building except for a feed mill. Good stuff, preserves of all kinds too. Don't expect late business hours, and today they are probably sold out. In the past we have pre-booked larger orders for pick-up.

Take Steele to Heritage rd. Brampton and visit the Al Ferri store, they got the best pies and cider (you can have a small cup of cider when visiting the store). the store inside didn't change for the last 40 years and looks like the wild west, just amazing.

If anyone locally or anyone's grandmother makes awesome homemade apple pies or apple crumble pies, I'd be happy to buy one off her ! I just settled for an Irresistibles-branded apple pie from Metro this morning, a 1kg one that's on sale for $4.99 with a best-before date of Oct 13.

Has an apple pie from them for the first time this week. Best pie I have ever had.

She is an absolute grouch but god damn she makes good pastries. And those butter tarts!

And on the topic of butter tarts...Dee's General Store just down the road from Valens Conservation area, worth the drive for the maple walnut and peanut butter, butter tarts!

I just think of her as untalkative, she's OK. A while ago on my umpteenth visit, through sheer erosion and perseverance, I got a grin and 15 seconds of small talk out of her. And an awesome pie.

I know it's too late now but I see that your original post was Saturday morning. For next time, Andrews Scenic Acers and others sell pies at the Farmers Market on Main Street on Saturday mornings until noon.

I can't imagine Dar's butter tarts being better than Kate's Town Talk Bakery in Streetsville. I will go to Dar's to check out their pies (and a butter tart).

I would choose Dee's over Dar's in a heartbeat, if not just for the additional flavours that they have. You might even get a smile with your order as well!

I can't but help think about a scene, a pie, and a movie.
