there are a ton of crappy drivers out there. i've had my car hit a few times because people just suck. my old e46 M3 was hit 4 times. only once where a person actually came to my door and traded information. other times it was from stuff flying out of someones car on the highway or getting hit by someone texting and not seeing the red light where i was stopped and another was a hit and run while parked. my new car (golf), has been hit 3 times in 3 years all while being parked and not one person stayed to exchange to talk about it. pay your deductible and move on. only thing you can do is pick a better spot to park or put sharp steel bumpers that will destroy someones car if they hit you.

We need to go back to the days of solid steel bumpers when people avoided accidents because they hurt like hell, not because laws said they have to and they were afraid of getting sued. Also, steel bumpers were easier/less expensive to repair than today where 40% of the car is designed to crumple upon impact.

do you know a place where steel bumpers can be installed on the back of the car?

Oh yes the day when a bumper was a bumper! If you hit a car, it bumped it! There was Zero damage to the car, just a black rubber mark the needed to be wiped of the shiny steel bumper.

That still happens, more often than not. In fact today's paint is much more flexible and resilient. But don't let the truth get in the way of being a grump! Hodor!
