Anyone know what is going in at the north east corner of Derry and Tremaine?

and when?

I heard a gas station. The lot has been empty for years.

I've been waiting 4 years for something to come there, it's supposed to be a gas bar. We need a gas station beyond the tracks... arghhhh

Esso + Tim Hortons. They were approved for a gas station, but revised it to include a 'restaurant' (likely a Tim Hortons). Those trucks coming and going from the CN rail will need to stop somewhere to eat.

A 7-11 would be great or a shell (sadly that isn't likely happening). Sad how there's no real convenience store in this area.

I hope the land is not rezone for high density residential. It is pathetic there is nothing west of the tracks.

Opps......... I just presented a great idea!

Arg....Where are the Shell stations? I feel a cramp in my Air Miles card every time I have to fill up at the competitor's pumps. Really, closest stations are at Trafalgar & Steeles, Trafalgar & Dundas and I think there's one around Dundas & Third line. Wonder what the underlying issue is with opening up in and around Milton?

Not sure why Shell has chosen not to open in Milton - perhaps they dont like the prices for land here? Either to own or rent. Perhaps when the Tremaine and Main gas plaza finally decides to build (think Durante Group owns the land, and last I heard they did have approval for a gas station plaza.)

more commercial development in the west end in general is needed. Why the Manaman development has not started building yet I have no idea, but last check had them not even applying yet. Figured they wanted LSL open, but that has been open for a while and they never moved forward.

The site plan was received last month. It's Esso with "On the Run", Tim Horton's drivethru and the car wash. Construction should start in spring.

:?: Oh,,,, well won't the air be dirty for a few months for those of us living east of that site.

:) Oh well. I don't care. That development is well over due.

Could our community not support a Starbucks or WholeFoods?

All I hear about are these discount, thrift, bulk shops.

We have several Starbucks in town, so I guess that answer is yes! As for WholeFoods, why not try contacting them and asking? I wouldnt shop there myself, but i assume they have at least looked at expansion possibilities. Perhaps not the right market demographics.

Can't help but to think that this just boils down to trust and confidence. Are these companies playing a game of wait and see, expecting Milton to be most affected by any future economic changes? I'm sure if they thought they were missing a lucrative boat, they'd be setting up out there even before it's fully built out. But no. Seems like they want to make sure they have the custy base installed first before they invest further into Milton. Come to think of it, there are lots of examples of private sector developments here that have lagged by a few years after the necessary population moved in to support it. Hmmmmmm.

Love or hate Garth Turner, he's always an entertaining read:

Esso and PetroCanada are the big guys in town. Shame Shell isn't coming here.
Looks like I'll keep getting gas at Appleby/Mainway area or in sauga on Argentia.
