Has anyone tried the ikea patio umbrellas.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70260320/

Curious if they actually last and work after a year :)

The fabric is 100% polyester so it should last well. But, how long it lasts will depend on how you use it. If you leave it up all the time then it will not last nearly as long as if you fold it down and put the cover on it whenever it is not in use.

Of course by leaving it up all the time you will risk it blowing over if you are not home during a high wind.

I must say that it is kind of cheap that the cover for it is sold separately.

I'll pull the trigger and report back. I played with their floor model and it looks pretty good. Again for the price its so competitive.

I saw an almost identical umbrella in the Rona flyer a week or so ago for a similar price. Check out their website.

If you're ever in the Mississauga area, there's a DOT warehouse at Dixie and Dundas. I got my patio umbrella there for a deal of a steal.

I did make the purchase on the ikea umbrella but unfortunately after installing it, realized that the sun sets at 45 degree angle in the backyard :( Which means the umbrella is'nt really shading anything.
