I am wanting to switch out a bunch of ceiling pot lights that have MR16 50 W Halogen dimmable bulbs that have the dual pin ends to LED MR16 dims. But so far I can only located them at the HD and Lowes and they are asking over $20 a bulb. Does anyone know of an alternate source for LED bulbs like this?

Thanks

Opie

We've been replacing ours with bulbs from Ikea...Reasonable price, decent light but note that they are not dimmable if that's an absolute requirement...

costco has these on sale once in awhile at about 10 bucks per pop.

https://saveonenergy.ca/Consumer/Progra ... UPONS.aspx

has coupons you can use anytime. it's only $3 off but it needs to have that energystar logo to qualify.

I'm sure you did your research as different brands do different lumens and spread as there's quite a bit off difference

If you need not just one, maybe this might help:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-50Watt-120V ... 0398484809

0.99 USD each, 13 USD shipping, each additional bulb is 1 USD shipping.

This one is a halogen lamp and not LED. The halogen version is available in dollar stores but they are 50W / bulb.

Monoprice has a coupleof options and they are much cheaper, but might not be as bright as a 50w halogen. The shipping and exchange rate might destroy an possible savings though.
Monoprice MR16 search.

thanks everyone

a co worker suggested Amazon.ca , I did find a cheaper alternative then the big box stores - I can get them for $13.95 CDN which makes this a bit easier on the wallet. Only issue with them as I read about the reviews from Amazon.com, they emit RFI which could be a problem for some of my other devices in the home

www.amazon.ca/Hyperikon-Replacement-Spo ... s=mr16+led

and why is it in the states I can buy party packs of just about everything but here in Canada I can only buy them as singles, grrrrrr

^^simple. Lack of effective and robust competition. Canada is the "get what you get, and you don't get upset" of the marketing world.

In terms of buying power, yes the dollar is at about 20% less than the US, but factor in about a 25-30% or more reduction in price, and at most about 6% retail tax, we get hosed.

If I'm recalling correctly, I picked up some at either Rona or Home Hardware here in town.
