Where is that? HVOTP? Does anyone know the families affected? Are they okay and getting adequate help? |

The neighbour from accross saw the fire and woke everyone up, and called for help. The fire was caused by lightning, and the roof is burned down. Probably 3 houses need to be re-buit, there is a lot of water damage. |

I live a few houses down and everyone is ok. Image waking up with nothing, their houses are probably going to be taken down and they have lost almost everything. I have read comments on other boards and yes insurance will hopefully help with the costs but in the meantime it would be nice for the people of Milton to show some support. A go fund me account has been set up (https://ca.gofundme.com/2catv8ks). I was talking with one of the owners today during the circus or insurance companies and contractors marching by and notice their kids in the car and thought how do you explain to them that all of their possessions are gone, it hasn't sunk in as of yet. If you are able to donate please do, my family is out of town but when they come home I plan on talking to them and ask how we are going to help... maybe we skip a couple dinners out and donate the money. https://ca.gofundme.com/2catv8ks Willy |

It is a tragedy, but the 100k go find me is for what? All the families are insured, insurance will cover the loss as fire is always covered. Yes this is sad, but with proper coverage they will be ok. Is there any suggestion that these families are un insured or under insured. Is this for pain and suffering? |

It's unfortunate that this happened, though the weather was insane that night! I sort of thought the same thing as above when I saw the Go Fund Me campaign. What is it funding? This is my biggest pet peeves with these things. If you are going to ask for people to be generous with money you should at least detail what is going to cover. It seems like a pretty clear case for an insurance claim? |

Yeah I must be missing something as well. $100k in donations, for what? |

Wow... $100K?! Here is a free of charge tip for the person that made the go-fund-me. Put it to a reasonable amount and set specifically what you are hoping the money will go to. For example, on the high side, we are looking for 8K to take all of the kids effected to disney. They have lost all of their belongings and are living in a hotel, and a vacation would be nice to cheer them up. 100K.. jebus.. |

Despite what the initial post said, insurance companies are generally amazing after catestrophic losses. They don't nickel and dime and really do everything they can, including advancing funds and helping find suitable accommodation. What is this money for? |

I agree with the above posts. This go fund me campaign to raise money is better suited for instances when there is a loss of life and your raising money to cover funeral costs, or if someone has an illness and you are raising money for research and or treatment costs. If one of these families does not have insurance (which I would find it hard to believe since it's mandatory with a mortgage) then what is this campaign for? Insurance will cover all of the financial losses. Insurers are usually pretty quick about setting up temporary living accommodations etc. The only thing it won't cover are the emotional losses. Is that what the money is for? Who is going to hand out the money? How will you divide it up? I don't like this one bit. |
