Is anyone here using OTA?

If so where is your antenna? What antenna? What channels are you getting?

Im thinking of getting an 8 bay and mounting it pretty high, it will be in the back (yard side) so it wont bother anyone as for looks.

I was just going to get a no name 8 bay because it looks like it has better options with being able to aim each 4 bays a little different but from what Im reading I think I should go with a channel masterr 4228 HD which I can get but allows no adjusting so Im curious on experiances.

I want to be able to get global, ctv and fox The rest will all be good those are Important for me.

Go with an 8 bay, however, in Milton Fox will be iffy depending on the weather. Some days its great, some its pixelated or no signal at all.

I tried 4 different antennas before I settled on this one...

http://antennasdirect.saveandreplay.com ... tream2.asp

Its probably the most expensive one you can buy, but it picks up Fox in Milton about 90% of the time...

The thing about Fox is they broadcast in a figure eight pattern east to west and Milton is perfectly in the middle of it and receives the poorest coverage.

Hi 007,

There are some old topics that have bunch of information:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68014
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65505

Plus Google Digitalhomes Forum about OTA, they have a dedicated forum for Oakville, Milton area.
Some people uses tvfools website to better understand where to point 1 or 2 antennas.

My setup is dual ChannelMaster 4221's in the attic, pointing in different directions towards Buffalo and Toronto. If I were to do it all over again, I'd probably use this one: http://antennasdirect.saveandreplay.com ... t_DB8e.asp

I lost CTV awhile back as well, after alot of troubleshooting it turns out it was a set of retrofit LED pot lights that was causing interference and disrupting CTV. Swapped out those lights and now CTV is now back up and strong as ever!

I was considering the DB8 till i noticed no VHF.

We need UHF and VHF here do we not?

CTV is the only VHF channel, and it is strong enough to come in on a UHF bowtie antenna. If not, you can always add one of these to it http://antennasdirect.saveandreplay.com ... or_Kit.asp

tvfool.com shows 5 channels on vhf. weird.

This was the reason I was after a channel master 4228HD. the only thing stopping me from buying the channel master is It doesnt allow me to point 4 bays one way and 4 bays another way.

I started this thread cause Im just not sure what antenna to buy. See I think if I get the 4228HD and aim between toronto and buffalo I should be good, however I think if I get a DB8 I can aim one half at toronto and one half at buffalo but I lose VHF.

Maybe Ill get the DB8 and the VHF thing you just showed me.

I dont know why the 4228HD is 8 bay but doesnt allow aiming 4 bays at a time.

I found antennas by the brand BEST and Focus that do this but cant find any reviews on them and I dont want to buy a bad antenna.

Doing this to 2 houses in milton and one in brampton so Im hoping the hardware I buy works out.

For Milton, there are some distant VHF that are essentially duplicates of Toronto. Example: CKCO in Kitchener has the same content as CFTO in Toronto. CKVR in Barrie has a local repeater in Niagara on channel 42. The only "unique" VHF channel here is CFTO.

I see, so that being said if I think a UHF only antenna is better just go for it?

Yes, I would go with a high quality UHF antenna. Size vs performance is much better for the long-distance channels, and like I said you can always add on a small VHF antenna later if you find it necessary for the local VHF stuff.
