French is a dead language being propped up by government. It has some real value in Canada but otherwise not much.
You would be better off learning a Chinese language. Or even German.

Ottawa region and New Brunswick bilingual is pretty much standard. Same with most of the cities east of Toronto on the way to Montreal.
The only provinces where french is not required day to day would be west coast assuming they never need to call outside their home province.
