Thanks for posting this Anthony! I'm just curious: things like the scratch it the tub...will Mattamy really replace the tub? Or uneven tiles in the shower...will the redo it all? I guess what I'm asking is if there is a limit as to what they'll re-do as opposed to find a way to bandaid it. Do they review your list and then reject some claims? Don't get me wrong, I think we should all get what we've paid for, but I could see Mattamy rejecting a claim to, say, retile a whole floor. Thanks again for sharing your experience, Justin. |

One of things that bothers my husband the most and he has said it outright to Mattamy is that he can point out a scrape or nail pop or other defect to be fixed and there might be 5 more right beside it but if he does not point out each one individually, they don't get fixed. |

Anthony, I'm glad you had a good experience with New Home Inspections. I had the same and that's why I recommended them. I know how complex a new home can get, that's why any help I could have had or can give to others, I'll certainly pass on. So I'm happy to hear you and your wife were satisfied. Cya, |

i have my PDI tomorrow. All this discussion about PDI is scaring me. Hopefully, everything works well and these issues are just part of the whole 'purchasing a new house' criteria. i mean, everything cant be perfect, right? |

When I moved in a few years ago, I just went ahead and fixed small inperfections and nailpops because after mattamy came out the first time, they tried to fix a drywall crack in like 5 minutes and it looked like crap afterwards. So I figured, I'm handy enough, I'll do the rest myself and it came out a lot better. |

Hi Anthony, This has been an extremely informative post!! If you don't mind me asking, what types of items where found by the inspector that you never would have found yourself? P. |

Rob, Wow, this topic is over 2 years old. For your interest - "PDI Assist" is the name of a service that we developed at Halton Home Inspection Service. That is not to say that others may not assist you during your PDI, but only we, specifically offer "PDI Assist". Unfortunately, Mattamy in Milton, has chosen to challenge Tarions rules with regards to this issue. This unfortunate situation has developed because some PDI's, with some Inspectors, have become very unpleasant for all involved. The last thing a new home owner needs is to have Tarion Reps fighting with the home inspector during the PDI process. This unpleasant and ridiculous situation does not include Halton Home Inspection Service and we are still able to attend, participate, and help clients in the PDI process. Three of the four people that conduct PDI's for Mattamy in Milton are reasonable and easy to work with when the situation is handled properly. If you need some advice on what to look out for during your PDI then feel free to call. Andy Shaw - 905 876 4761 http://www.haltoninspections.com |
