Its still way cheaper to run cable.

But it is a handy technology when you can't.

If you can run it yourself, it is way cheaper, a lot of comapnies charge 150 per run and use electricians to run them when anyone with a little knowledge can run and terminate there own.

For that matter this is a for sale not a general thread.

I think nothing beats the flexibility of WIFI since you need one of these units where ever you have a computer, where as with WI-FI I can be anywhere.

Once you go wireless N which is comparable in price you have no reasonable internal speed bottle neck, or range limitation. Not that G doesn't have a much bigger pipe then your DSL/Cable modem can handle anyways.

These things were cool 10 years ago, I think they were called Intel AnyPoint, now they are no point.

All of these devices also share the same collision domain, just like in an old style HUB'ed network. Did you ever do any networking with 100M hubs? Doesn't scale very well. So that's when you have to get one of their GateWays.

Also the lack of a ground line bothers me a little bit when I have to plug my computer into it.

There is some benefit to these, but I don't see it being any better than using a wireless network.. In all cases I would much rather have a properly wired network.

it kills me how much some companies are charging to do this service. makes we want to start doing it on the side.

I hear and appreciate your point, but think that a reasonable wireless-n router cost about the same, and extends the range of both wireless g and n capabilities well beyond those needed for the typical house hold.

Wires are dead, much to the disappointment of the two boxes of cat5e in my basement, but the writings on the wall.
