Currently handled between Milton Taxi and Oakville/Milton wheelchair vans

Apparently with Uber taxi's normally DO NOT count on regular cash paying fares
but ACCESS+ )( the paratransit service) is what keeps
these taxi drivers employed

A1 Rose lost it in Jan 2013(?) so presumably
wants it back

Any thoughts?

Well all joking aside
<None>
is not a option because
it would mean pulling those couple of Wheeltrans buses rolling
around Milton off the roads.

Since the long term care facility in town could easily supply 200 clients for
Wheeltrans
probably various levels of government would sack and burn Town Hall\if Mayor Gord and Council gave the finger to those
200 clients.

I believe there are around 800 to 1000 Access+ clients
out there( Access+ = paratrans card)
and its administered from Engineering Services in Town Hall
under Paul Cripps

For somebody like me as a primary caregiver trying to keep
mom going, losing the Wheeltrans would definetly
not be a good idea.

The way it works is a Access+ client pays $3 for the trip and the Milton taxpayer foots the bill
for the rest.(Unless they're a CNIB cardholder like mom, where Milton
taxpayer foots the entire cost)IOW dad 1925-2012 RIP got $3 rides
mom gets it free cuz she'd a CNIB cardholder)

In the cse of the two taxi companys their fleet are equally
driven hard ( lots of differential and tranny noises in the older
taxi's)

Since Milton is all rush rush rush
nick of the moment lane changes and all that

I could see the benefit where Town Hall demands the winner of the contract put in that
extra bit of tuneup or brake shoe repair
so that a Access + clients life does not hang by a fraction of a micro-second
between a smooth entry into Milton traffic
or a crash.

Since neither taxi fleets vehicles are perfect, perhaps the winner should
be the one with the best mechanic
rather then the lowest bid?
