Re Cap and Trade.

Very confusing for many I would assume.

While the liberals think it is a great idea, our auditor general calculates that it will suck 8 billion out of the pockets of Ontario's population while achieving minimal greenhouse gas reductions.

That article is almost two years old and many more details of the plan have become available since it was written. Probably the most important detail is that Ford scrapped it.

Yes. I know the article and the auditors evaluation came out when the plan was put out. All I said was that many people may be confused about how effective the plan is.

There’s a real, actual cost for living the way we do. Go figure.

It was more than money, anyway. Using the dollars gained to go towards green initiatives may have been the big push needed to quit our addiction to fossil fuels for good. Oh well, I’m sure Doug will think of something - he is For The People, after all!

What would you suggest be done instead?

I have some ideas but I'm no expert. Maybe ask our auditor general. Maybe she has some ideas about how this can be more efficiently.

Cheers. Have a nice day.

Hahaha okay then. Keep clutching those pearls!

Here's another article that may help explain the opposing point of view: https://globalnews.ca/news/4338040/carb ... te-change/

Quote:
A Carbon tax is an efficient way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions without slowing down an economy, a comprehensive study found.

Eleven teams participated in a detailed study called the Stanford Energy Modeling Forum (EMF) project, which examined the economic and environmental impact of an economy-wide carbon tax in the United States.

Every single team found the same result: not only does a carbon tax lead to substantially fewer emissions, it also could have long-term positive economic growth.

Like, you know whats worse than not having a few extra dollars in our pockets right now? Having way less in the future to pay for fixing up this planet that the older bungling generation has so efficiently screwed up.

Anyone else noticed how local gas prices at most of the gas stations are higher than in Mississauga and Brampton?
And in Hamilton it is ten cent reduction comparing to Milton already.

I would need a lot more than 10 cents a litre to be persuaded to live in Hamilton.

I almost always drive to Hamilton just to fill up. It's worth it.
