| Post subject: | Grate in the back yard |
Our house was one of the lucky ones to get a grate at the far left back corner. I am trying to envision what my yard will eventually look like. Can I still plant along the back fence line?? Will the actuall posts for the fence be on that line? How have others delt with these grates?? I have a side that slopes pretty good...left side of the house. Can we still put flagstone patio down, can I level it off?? Any suggestions Thanx Barmaid |

Why do you consider it lucky that you have the grate in your backyard, is that not the same as being happy about having a green electrical box on your front lawn? |

So I am allowed to plant along the back fence?? Won't it interfere with the movement of water to the grate?? |

I got stuck with one in my backyard as well. We haven't done major backyard renos yet, but when we get to it i plan to plant around it accordingly. As i see it, the grate is there in the event of flood like conditions, not really for rain run off. So as long as you don;t cover it, or build a garden up too high around it so water can;t get to it, you should be ok. As with anything, use your best discretion and you should be able to make the best of it. good luck |
