Have anyone that has moved in had their ducts cleaned, or has anyone checked to see if the ducts are clogged with dirt? Just today I took these pictures

My house however, has a different heating system being installed, where the vents will be circular as opposed to your regular rectangle vents. It would make sense for them to put plugs in for every house, wonder why it is that they dont??
I also am getting this funny picture in my mind. Starting up your furnace for the first time and having all the dust and crap blow up out of the ducts. Tim |

Mattamy duct cleaning oh yea looks good on the truck driving around, but do they actually do it? We just came back from looking at their model homes in Cambridge. Now if the model homes are supposed to be the "Flagships", then they must be forgetting to do their duct cleaning. While we were browsing, I decided to check out some vents and low and behold, dust and tonnes of crap. Not to mention the master bedroom in the 50' lot Plan 3 Elev D. Here is what I saw.
50' lot Plan 2 Elev D.
Oh yes, one thing to mention is they put in vent vains. Now the things that I have seen is there is no way to open/close this when the floor below has been closed off/drywalled up. Tim Needless to say, if the model homes don't have their ducts cleaned, whats to say that "our" homes won't have the ducts cleaned??? ...but who looks in their ducts/vents anyway??? |

Here is a couple of shots of a brand new Mattamy house ducts. The only thing I couldn't verify is between May 21 and May 30, did they clean the ducts before the owners moved in? On a side note. I visited my brothers 2 year old house and of course I pulled a vent out and shoved my hand inside...lots of crap down there. He mentioned that Sears had quoted him $400 to do his ducts. Anyone else getting pricing? Tim |
