BRICK! wow, we went to see the house on monday and there was no brick at that time. I even went around the site to see if the brick was even delivered.....found nothing. So the big day is july 21 and you should be expecting your invitation the next couple of days...i sent it to the Vickermanway address.

nope, thats lot 38, we are the house to the left of it, 2 houses from the semi. We went by today and noticed that the electrical was in, but still no brick. Yor house looks great with the brick, nice colour choice. our move in day is september 19.

At today's (June 12th) Mattamy University someone asked about Strikes. Mattamy mentioned that there were 2 current strikes, being one with a siding contractor and one with a carpet contractor, but that both would end on June 15th (this Friday) per what Robi already posted about them being "legislated back to work".

Mattamy did not mention any plumbers being on strike, or any other possible strikes.

They only mentioned these 2 current ones, which will end on Friday.

Since when can siding and carpet layers be legislated back to work?? They are not esential services to the public..... I really find that hard to beleive!

Actually I don't quite understand that either, but both Robi (user here) and Mattamy (yesterday at Mattamy U) said about the exact same thing, i.e. that these 2 small strikes would be legally forced to end on Friday. Something about the June 15th date in regards to strikes being forced to end that I don't quite understand. Maybe Robi knows more.

Maybe there will be forced arbitration or something and the workers must go back to work in good faith during the arbitration process. Also, my understanding is that Dalton M closed the legislature for the session allready 3 weeks early?? No one is home to pass the legislation to force them back to work. Something must be going on but just worded incorrectly.

We had out PDI at 0800 and got the keys at 3pm the same day. A lot of stuff wasn't fixed but at least we got the house. I guess it all depends on the amount of things you find during your PDI.

We had our PDI a week before close, and we are still waiting on items from that list to be fixed..... So I wouldn't worry about it, they will be in and out of your house for months from time to time fixing things so the few days will not make much of a difference.

In phase 12 (couple years ago) we had maybe 90 issues on our PDI, which was also 1 day before closing. Most of them were minor. But they weren't able to fix them before closing obviously, most of them got fixed before the 30 day list.

When we went on our PDI they had already marked a bunch of items off before we got there. If you miss something on your PDI, you can just put it on your 30 day list. Mattamy has also been very good about fixing the little things that you may have missed on your PDI or 30 day list. The Mattamy employees really seem to care about their product, and want to make things right (they have even fixed things that we were happy to live with)

I was in the habit of walking around the house for the first while with painters tape, and every time I saw something I would put a tape marker on it so I wouldn't forget to mention it on my 30 day list, the house looked like it had a polka dot paint job! It actually helped the Mattamy crew out, since they could find the problem, and once they fixed it they took the tape down so they knew it was fixed.

I saw people are living at their new houses with walls without siding.
Is it because of this strike?

There were a couple of Courtyard Homes where people were living without siding. I think it was because of the strike. They are working on them this week now, so the strike must be over.

In our opinion, the Courtyard Homes have turned out terrific. The house is well designed, large and different from others in the neighbourhood. We love it!
