Hello, We have one of our friends who bought a new house with Mattamy in Mississauga came with their basement 2x4's installed. I was wondering if anyone knows that Mattamy does install them in detached houses. This would be so cool as we only need to install the drywalls... Trini |

I think Mattamy is changing this in some of the semis (and maybe others as well) I noticed a lot of steel I-beams around McNair, and sure enough when we went into one of the semis that are being built it had no framing, just the steel I-beam in the basement. |

I can confirm that. The Scotswood had, what I consider, an impractically placed load bearing wall in the basement that now (in the updated Huxley model) no longer exists. Instead we just have a couple of posts to mount the I-beams on. Keep in mind that's for a detached house, not just for semis.
