I tried finding a public tennis court south of Derry, and wasn't able to find one... I think a public tennis court would be beneficial to Hawthorne Village, and would be used quite frequently.... Do others feel we need a public tennis court south of Derry? |

Colin might be able to speak on this issue...As for my opinion, I really don't play tennis but I wouldn't mind having one in/around my community...A great place for one might be in the neibourhood park planned for HVE (south of the Union Gas Pipeline beside the proposed school) |

Hi everyone Actually Milton Tennis Club has 8 lghted tennis courts 2 km. west of Thompson road south of the Milton Sports Centre on Santa Maria Blvd. at the south end with a club house and practise area. Check out their web site via milton tennis club and get the details. The Tennis club is part of a 100 acre Town park which will be developed over the next few years with soccer fields, baseball diamonds, open space area and walking trails and even cricket pitchs etc if there is demand for it. The Town will be discussing this through their capital budget plan this fall check milton.ca for more details on how you can get involved. There is also Town tennis courts at Laurier and Farmstead next to the Tonellis arena and at Rotary park off Mill Street. Colin Best Local & Regional Councillor Wards 2 & 4. |

bump this up... any plans for public courts. I won't give up my membership at the club but it would be nice to have something in the area for public use. And the club is getting busier and busier every year. open land at clark and bennett looks like great spot. |

Hi KJT At present there is no plans for any new public tennis courts but the Community Services Department will be holding open houses this spring regarding new parks in both the Bristol and Sherwood Surveys which will be advertised on the town web site milton.ca and the local papers. Besides the Milton Tennis Club which has lighted courts south of Derry past the Sports Centre there is two courts at the corner of Laurier Ave. and Farmstead Drive next to the Tonelli Arena and two courts at Rotary Park off Mill St. and Garden Lane. There is a couple of other tennis courts in the Dorset Park and Timberlea neighbourhoods which are mostly used for basketball. The Milton Sports Centre is planned to be expanded with new public meetings planned for the spring where you can request new tennis courts since the Town has not had much demand for tennis courts over the last decade. thanks Colin, I belong to that club, been there since I moved up here. Like I said it would be nice to have public, so my club doesn't get too busy. We'll see what happens. |

It would be even better if the Milton club would invest in some winter tennis, ie bubble. |

I'm interested in local tennis courts, but not lit. It is unnecessary in a public court. |
